THIS PRUNING METHOD IS ONE OF THE MOST TRADITIONAL IN THE WORLD, ESPECIALLY IN SPAIN. IT ADOPTS MANY SHAPES AND DIMENSIONS DEPENDING ON THE REGIONS.
THE HEAD-PRUNING VINE IS A TRUNK OF LOW OR MEDIUM HEIGHT, PLANTED WITHOUT TRELLIS. IT HAS 3 OR 4 ARMS OR SHORT BRANCHES. AT THE END OF THE ARMS THE SPURS ARE LEFT AND THEY WILL PRODUCE SHOOTS THAT WILL BEAR THE FRUIT. THE INSIDE OF THE VINE IS OPEN, KEEPING THE VINE WITH ENOUGH LIGHT AND AIR TO MAINTAIN A PERFECTLY HEALTHY STATE.
THE VINES ARE GROWN IN A STRAIGHT LINE, ALLOWING MECHANIC PRE-PRUNING AND EVEN HARVEST.
